In Croatia, autumn is lately the time for fun with maths. In October, the Mathematics Street Festival in Zagreb, the capital, and nearby Zaprešić surprises streetwalkers by fun mathematical games and involves them in the various activities. On the first Thursday of December, the Maths Night festival is held all over Croatia, in kindergartens, schools of all levels and at universities. Both events are organised under the auspices of the Croatian Mathematical Society, and here are the fresh reports on them for this year!

The seventh edition of the International Mathematical Modeling Contest (CMM-IMI 2024), organized by the Interdisciplinary Mathematics Institute (IMI) and supported by the Vice-Rectorates for Students and for Research and Transfer of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), along with SeMA, SEIO, MathWorks, and math-in, concluded with remarkable achievements. Students from 30 universities across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Spain participated in this prestigious event, showcasing their mathematical modeling skills.

The Spanish Society of Applied Mathematics (SeMA) has undergone significant changes in its Executive Council throughout 2024, welcoming several new members to key positions.

zbMATH Open, the world's most comprehensive and longest-running abstracting and reviewing service in mathematics, continues to expand its features in 2024. As a collaborative effort between FIZ Karlsruhe, the European Mathematical Society (EMS) and the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the platform is set to become a crucial hub in the global network of mathematics information.

The EMS Young Academy (EMYA) is delighted to announce the selection of 20 new members who will serve as the third cohort from 2025 to 2028, bringing the total membership to 80 young mathematicians from across Europe.

The Mathematical Research Data Initiative (MaRDI) is a consortium based in Germany working to develop infrastructure for mathematical research data. Its mission is to establish standards for verified data, reproducible workflows, and accessible services to support the global mathematical community. As one of the international partners, the EMS joins other organizations in contributing to MaRDI's efforts to promote open and standardized data practices in mathematical research.

The Committee for Developing Countries (CDC) invites applications for the Emerging Regional Centres of Excellence (ERCE). This prestigious 4-years label recognizes mathematics centers in the Global South that demonstrate excellence in research and play a vital role in regional education, particularly in training students from neighboring areas.

EMYA, the EMS Young Academy, is launching a new initiative: MOSS, the Mathematics Online Seminar Series, from February 2025 onwards. It is organized by Jelena Jankov Pavlović (University of Osijek, Croatia) and Cristina Molero-Río (École Polytechnique, France).

Throughout 2025, members of the EMS Mathematics Outreach and Engagement Committee will share their stories and insights with our community through a series of interviews. The Committee's mission is to show people why mathematics matters and how it is part of science, technology, and many other aspects of modern life. Through these interviews, we will learn about each member's work within the Committee and their vision for its future, alongside their personal experience in mathematics outreach. We begin our series with Katie Chicot, Chair of the Committee.
